Laurel Mountain

New for 2016!

Designed for older scouts, it will be held in the mornings during periods 2 thru 4 (9:30 until lunch). Scouts will meet on Monday morning at the Nature Lodge at the start of period 2 and walk out to
the Davis Inn.

The program will cover the Metalwork merit badge (using the forge) and Woodwork merit badge, in addition to fulfilling requirements to earn the BSA Paul Bunyan Woodsman award.

Throughout the week, scouts can also participate in many of the activities at the Davis Inn: knife and tomahawk throwing, slingshot range, panning for gold, candle making, branding, as well as gathering eggs from the chickens.

Woodwork

Wood is an amazingly versatile, practical, yet beautiful material. A skilled
craftsman can use wood to fashion just about anything. As a woodworker or carpenter, you will find no end of useful, valuable, and fun items you can make yourself, from wood.

Metalwork

Scouts will begin their work on this merit badge by learning about the properties of metal, how to use simple metalworking tools, and the basic metalworking techniques. Then they will practice using these
tools and techniques before concentrating on the more intricate skills of one of four metalworking options.

Signup for the program will be via the regular troop/scout online sign up web site.
